Pilot Lite Ventures maps Berlin to explore the local independent food and beverage scene

Berlin has a unique culture, offering a diverse mix of F&B retail in edgy and often unorthodox environments that are counter-culture to the mainstream. Kiosks, (a.k.a. Spätis in Berlin) are a very relevant channel when it comes to bringing a beverage to the market in Berlin. Within Berlin, a global food and beverage company sought to launch their brands beyond mainstream grocery into more specialised retail and HORECA outlets reflecting in excess of 10,000 Berlin outlets. PLV validated a viable market opportunity capable of generating over €2 million in revenues in its first phase. The trends driving much of Berlin’s F&B retail are similar to those in London or New York – customer engagement and interaction and offering something unique or special while being relevant to the time and area.
